Welcome to the Curvy Surfer Girl Blog.
I started Curvy Surfer Girl to address the complete lack of representation within women’s surfing dating back to 1957 with the release of Gidget. Since then, the stereotype of the skinny blonde surfer girl has been the primary aesthetic and has continued to reign supreme during the height of women’s surfing through the ‘90s and early ‘00s.
With the rise of body positivity and role models like Ashley Graham, I was hopeful that the surf industry would begin to evolve as well. Unfortunately, that was not the case…
CSG grew beyond my wildest dreams and has become a movement. We are a community dedicated to any and every woman that felt they never belonged in the ocean because of weight or any other prejudices.
Leading the Curvy Surfer Girl movement is one of the greatest privileges and honors I’ve ever undertaken. I am so excited to continue to shape the future of surfing alongside each one of you!
Stay tuned because we are just getting started!
